Year of "brat"

As longtime fans of Charli xcx, we were excited to see her 6th album BRAT take the world by storm last summer. BRAT did it all, earning critical acclaim (2024’s top-ranked album at Metacritic), building and sustaining a massive viral campaign, and notching 4 song placements on the Billboard Hot 100.

In partnership with WMG/Atlantic Records, Feed.fm offered an exclusive, complimentary brat-inspired music station, bringing Charli xcx’s confident energy and playful irreverence to many of our fitness customers’ apps. Even non-fitness customers like AI massage company Aescape tapped into brat’s cool cultural currency.

Pop in 2024—'cause girls is players too

It’s not surprising to see Pop making up the majority of our genre breakdown, but more interestingly, the dominance of female artists shows a commitment to upbeat, energetic hits from these leading ladies.

8 of the 10 top tracks in fitness this year feature female artists. From Taylor to Miley, Olivia to Dua, they all released catchy tunes at a motivating mid-tempo beat suitable for multiple fitness modalities. We also can’t forget smash hits from Sabrina Carpenter, Charli xcx, and Chappell Roan.

Country music is making waves in pop and fitness playlists, with artists like Shaboozey and Beyoncé leading a trend of cross-genre collaborations that redefine boundaries and captivate diverse audiences.

Rock climbs to #2

In 2024, rock music jumped 2 spots in our genre ranking making it the second most listened to genre in fitness apps this year. Rock music is experiencing a powerful resurgence both digitally and IRL. The genre is captivating fans across generations with well-attended festivals, a renewed love for guitar-driven sounds, and an exciting wave of new bands including Grammy-nominated Spiritbox and Turnstile.

Fitness trainers are also loving classic hits from Green Day, My Chemical Romance, and Heart.  Station themes such as "2000s Pop Punk," "She Rocks," and "Active Rock" offer variety and intensity, keeping workouts engaging and dynamic.
